Filmed in a kindergarten, dementia center and sports school, The First and Final Girl is set in the future, when women can reproduce themselves. The actresses play the roles of caretakers. Through their work, games, and the exchange of embodied knowledge, their bodies transverse the spaces, graftting one onto another. This work attempts to visualize an existential situation: If we share the exact same genetic material with our mother, grandmother, daughter and granddaughter, how does it change our perception of time, identity and body?
The film project was made possible by Medienkunstpreis 2023 der Kunststiftung Ingvild und Stephan Goetz, in collaboration with Sammlung Goetz and der Akademie der Bildenden Künste München.
