The First and Final Girl looks into the myths of parthenogenesis, in which an offspring is a faithful genetic copy of the mother, and attempts to visualize how time, identity and bodies would be perceived alternatively. The story seems to be set in an unknown institution somewhere in the future. It was shot in a kindergarten, a sports school and a dementia center, grafting different stages of lives on to each other. The actresses play the roles of caretakers, fathoming their existential situations through work, games and exchange of embodied knowledge.

The film project was made possible by Medienkunstpreis 2023 der Kunststiftung Ingvild und Stephan Goetz, in collaboration with Sammlung Goetz and der Akademie der Bildenden Künste München.
